Hello WRM community~

It is time for us to prepare for the upcoming school year and navigate our ‘new normal’ of providing access to learning for all students during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is a great comfort that a vaccine is now available for all ages of children attending our program! In order to protect against serious illness and limit the spread of COVID-19 on our campus, WRM strongly encourages vaccination and for families to stay up-to-date with their COVID-19 vaccine series (review our current policy here). Whether your family chooses to vaccinate or not, we value and prioritize your student’s access to school in the upcoming school year and beyond. 

I know many of you are wondering whether we will start the school year wearing masks and the answer is ‘Yes.’ The current public health guidance does recommend wearing masks indoors in public settings and WRM will follow that guidance. We are assembling a COVID-19 Advisory Panel to assist us with navigating our mitigation measures for the 2022-2023 school year. That committee will begin meeting as soon as next week and I will keep you updated on their recommendations for our school. The members of the committee include a former parent who is a Dallas area pediatrician, a former parent who has a Ph.D. in Emerging Infectious Diseases, a current parent who is a physician in the Dallas area, and (hopefully) a physician from UT Southwestern who is not affiliated with our school. As the public health guidance for schools becomes less clear, utilizing the wisdom of this panel will allow our school to continue with our high level of safety for your children while staying abreast of what is considered best practices in the medical and infectious disease communities in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The chart below is intended to give our community clarity on what mitigation measures will be in place as the Community Impact Level in Dallas County changes. It will remain our guiding document throughout the school year, with regular updates based on the Advisory Panel’s recommendations.

WRM’s goal for the 2022-2023 school year continues to be to keep children safe and our campus open with learning accessible to all. Please remember: If teachers are out sick recovering from COVID-19 or caring for family members who have contracted COVID-19, they cannot be on campus facilitating your child/ren’s learning!
