Wendy Akin is originally from Australia. She is married and has three sons and two grandchildren. Mrs. Akin originally received her Montessori credential from the St. Nicholas Training Center in London, England. She has spent four years at the Royal Ballet School of London. Before coming to White Rock Montessori, Mrs. Akin spent several years performing as a professional dancer in England, the Philippines, Hong Kong, and Australia. She also worked at two different Montessori schools in Shreveport Louisiana. She has been a Montessori teacher for 44 years - 36 of those here at White Rock! Mrs. Akin loves this quote from Dr. Montessori, “The child is both a hope and a promise for mankind” and believes it defines her practice as a Montessori teacher.

Lisa Williamscraig received her BA in English Literature from the University of Dallas and her AMI Montessori diploma from the Montessori Teacher Training Center of Northern California. After completing her training, she spent ten years teaching in bilingual-immersion Montessori schools in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is married and has two children, both of whom are in the Lower Elementary program at WRM. When not at school, Ms. Lisa and her family enjoy hiking, camping, and exploring the State and National Parks systems.

Rob Lewicki graduated from Texas A&M and received his AMS Montessori certification in 2012. He worked in outdoor education and public elementary school before working at White Rock Montessori. Mr. Lewicki drives to school every morning with his three children who attend WRM. His hobbies include reading, doodling, and playing games with his friends and family.

Mary Shockley has been passionately active in Montessori education for over a decade and currently strives to create an authentic child-centered learning experience for her primary students at White Rock Montessori School in Dallas Texas. She holds a BA in psychology and women's studies from the University of North Texas and is currently pursuing a MEd specializing in urban education at Southern Methodist University. Mary has a strong desire to affect systematic change in her city and has a focused goal to make quality education accessible to all Dallas residents. When she is not busy advocating for Montessori education, Mary enjoys spending time traveling, cooking, and planning for the next adventure with her husband and two children.

Holly Weinstein is a native Texan who grew up in Richardson, and married her high school sweetheart. The arts have always been an important and vital part of her life. She attended The College of Art and Design at Lesley University in Boston, Massachusetts and received her BFA in illustration. Holly has worked as a freelance illustrator/ graphic designer for businesses ranging from one-person companies to multi-national corporations; she has also illustrated over a dozen children’s books. While simultaneously working as an illustrator, Holly also taught art for eleven years at a private studio in North Dallas. It was here that she found her passion for teaching. Holly loves tending to her garden, and enjoys doing any creative work with her hands, including knitting, crocheting, painting, and drawing. She lives in East Dallas with her son, daughter, husband, and two dogs.

Ileana Bolano returns to us after a two-year retirement. Ms. Bolano was a Primary teacher and parent at WRM for many years. She is a credential and highly-experienced Montessori Early Childhood teacher, as well as extensive musical training. Ms. Bolano served as WRM’s Spanish and Primary Music teacher previously and brings a wealth of knowledge and passion back to the WRM team!
